Chili Oil Fried Eggs
There’s not much in this life better than a perfectly fried egg. — Crisp around the edges, yet soft and runny in the middle. It’s a dream combination. Apparently, I’m not the only one who believes it. Fried eggs have been poppin’ off all over TikTok and Instagram lately. — Pesto fried eggs, buffalo fried eggs, and yes, chili oil fried eggs. I had to give a lil spin on my own version of this to see if it lived up to the hype of the newly popular “flavored” fried eggs (hint: it does). It’ll be the easiest, tastiest thing you’ll eat all week.
Chili Oil Fried Eggs
2 eggs
sambal
chili flakes
olive oil (or any neutral oil)
salt and pepper
- Mix oil, sambal, and a sprinkle of chili flakes together in a small bowl.
- Use a nonstick pan over medium heat. Once it’s hot, add chili oil to pan.
- Once the oil is hot (shiny), crack your eggs into the pan. Cover and let cook until whites become opaque.
- Remove from pan and serve over toasted bread, rice, or veggies. I was in the mood for mushrooms, peppers, and potatoes.
*alternatively, you can use chili crunch oil rather than making your own. I recommend Trader Joe’s or Fly by Jing.
